The formation of Marzia Karim Foundation is inspired by extraordinary life of Marzia Karim. Born in Bangladesh, Marzia Karim is the daughter of Hosne Ara Begum and Dr. A H M Karim, former Director General of secondary and higher education of Bangladesh. Marzia Karim received education and training in the United Kingdom and Australia, and she maintains a reputation of being an excellent early childhood educator. She inspired many by her sincerity and lively personality, and through her aspiration to help those in need. She remained impeccably good natured and amazingly resilient in the face of life’s challenges. Her patience, endurance and steadfast faith will be honored and remembered through the work of Marzia Karim Foundation. The Foundation will be committed to support people in need of access to healthcare, education and clean water, and to share new knowledge that inspires positive change.

Planned Activities
The Marzia Karim Foundation is launching a targeted clean water program to install deep tube wells across high-risk zones in Faridpur and Barishal. Clean drinking water remains out of reach for millions in rural Bangladesh, where many rely on contaminated ponds and lakes. The consequences are devastating, leading to chronic illnesses and high mortality rates, particularly among underprivileged children. Due to pollution and dropping water tables, shallow wells are no longer viable. Investing in motorized deep tube wells is the most practical, long-term solution. Our site selection will be based on two criteria: the severity of drinking water scarcity and maximizing the number of underserved beneficiaries per well.
Under our existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dhaka University, the Marzia Karim Foundation plans to advance its commitment to youth leadership and professional integrity. The plan is to conduct a campus-wide survey to assess students’ current understanding of personal and professional ethical standards. Following the survey, the Foundation in partnership with Dhaka University will organize a series of interactive capacity-building workshop to equip students with practical strategies to navigate the workplace ethical challenges. By introducing systemic ethical assessments and capacity-building workshops before students’ transition into the job market, this initiative proactively addresses the gap between academic theory and practical, real-world ethical decision-making processes.
