Syed Al-Muti is a development management expert and currently holds the position of Senior
Program Adviser of The Asia Foundation. He has substantial experience in leading economic
development projects in the region, particularly in the areas of inclusive growth, economic
governance, and women’s entrepreneurship development. Mr Al-Muti has more than 30 years of
experience with UKAid, USAID, Australian Aid (DFAT), and The Asia Foundation, with his experience
spanning multiple countries including Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Nepal, Papua New
Guinea and Thailand. Mr Al-Muti holds a master’s degree in social planning and development from
the University of Queensland, Australia, a post-graduate diploma in Public Health from the
University of Queensland and an MBA from The Institute of Business Administration (IBA),
Bangladesh.
